Prolog began working with Juanachute in 2026—the beginning of what we hope will be a lasting collaboration with the Castro family. Located in Costa Rica’s renowned Los Santos region, the family was among the pioneers of the country’s micromill movement, and still oversees every stage of production.
Their farms utilize water-efficient washed processing, careful sun-drying on raised beds, and biodiverse farming systems that protect local ecosystems. Beyond coffee, the Castro family invests in the future of Costa Rican coffee through local education and barista training. This washed lot of Catuaí reflects both the region’s classic clean and balanced profile, and the family’s commitment to quality.
