Aponte is a bright and fruity honey-processed Caturra from the Aponte community in Nariño. In this lot, we find a sparkling acidity, floral notes, and a clarity that is hard to find in some of the newer Colombian varieties.

Aponte is the name of an Inga community in the high mountains of the Nariño region, with roots dating back to Inca times. After the region was devastated by drug trafficking and forced poppy cultivation in the 1990s, coffee farming has completely replaced this past over the last decade. The Caturra planted here is a return to the Colombian varieties of old, with a layered sweetness amplified by the cold temperatures and volcanic soils.

In the cup: sparkling acidity, floral notes, and clarity.
