Manhattan Coffee Roasters is a specialty roastery in Rotterdam, Netherlands, founded in 2017 by Esther Maasdam and Ben Morrow — two professionals with over 30 years of combined experience in the coffee industry. The roastery's name is inspired by the history of the port of Rotterdam and the Holland-America line, which connected the city to New York in the 19th century — and Rotterdam itself is nicknamed by locals "Manhattan on the Maas" due to its unique skyline in the Netherlands. Esther and Ben are champions at international coffee competitions, from the Latte Art Championship to Coffee Masters in New York and London, and this expertise is reflected in every roasted batch. Each Manhattan coffee is ethically and sustainably sourced, with a focus on bringing the origin flavors to the cup. Direct collaboration with farmers and investment in producer communities are not a marketing tool for them, but a minimum condition for long-term success.
